Alfa Romeo 4C might get Abarth and Maserati variants

While everyone is waiting for the Alfa Romeo 4C GTA to debut in production form and find its way over to the US, other variations may currently be in the pipeline as well. New reports suggest that the 4C concept will not only preview a two-seater model for Abarth and Alfa, but will also come in some other derivatives, including a Maserati model.

The 4C GTA concept is powered by a "4 cylinder" 1750 Turbo Petrol engine located centrally in the rear of the vehicle and mated to a new automatic "Alfa TCT" twin dry clutch transmission. With a total output of 200 HP, the engine will sprint the concept from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds, while top speed goes up to 155 mph. However, we anticipate that the Maserati variant will be both more powerful and sportier, but we’ll have to wait until about 2013 or 2014 to see it in action.

A lot of us have tuning companies that we like to call our favorites, or at least one of our favorites. Some of you might share different opinions, but in our case, one that stands on top is Novitec Rosso. The German tuning company has not been shy in building fabulous works in the past, and to their credit, they never rest on their laurels. Their latest piece of work is proof of that fact.

Using an Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, Novitec Rosso gave the fastest and most powerful Alfa Romeo even more reason to be feared, thanks to a new supercharger system and a stainless-steel exhaust system that takes the output of the Italian supercar from its stock 450 horsepower all the way up to 600 horsepower. The power upgrade translates to new performance numbers for the 8C Spider, particularly a new 0-62 mph time of just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph.

On top of the supercharger and the exhaust system, Novitec Rosso also gave the 8C Spider a new water-to-air intercooler, a custom injector, and a set of 21” and 22” alloy wheels. All told, the whole package for the 8C Spider comes out at 19,900 Euros, which is about $29,400 based on current exchange rates.

Not bad for an upgrade of an Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.

2011 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa

Over the weekend Zagato unveiled the official details on the new Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa - a "race car that honors 100 years of races and victories across the whole 20th century."

The TZ3 Corsa is based on a mono shell carbon fiber tubular chassis, coupled with a tubular frame, and a lightweight aluminum body. With a total weight of 850 kilos, the TZ3 is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine with dry sump lubrication that delivers a total of 420 hp and is mated to a 6 speed sequential tractive gearbox.

According to the first specifications unveiled by Zagato, the TZ3 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and can hit a top speed of more than 186 mph.

Alfa Romeo and Zagato have been partners since their beginning races at the Mille Miglia. Together, they achieved victories with the 1500 6C, the 1750 GS and the 8C 2300 Zagato of the Scuderia Ferrari. Other notable victories would be the 1964 12 hours of Sebring, the Targa Florio, the Nurburgring, and the 24 hours of Le Mans. These victories, and many more, illustrate the effective partnership between Alfa Romeo and Zagato.

This very special automobile honors not only this connection between Alfa Romeo and Zagato, but also the 90 year partnership they have endured and the 100 years of the Alfa Romeo racing heritage. This particular model has even been commissioned by German Alfa Romeo Zagato collector Martin Kapp while he was attending the Zandvoort Tribute, an event honoring Zagato.

2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Safety Car

Alfa Romeo’s new Giulietta will enter the race track as a Safety Car at the Superbike World Championship, scheduled on May 22-23, 2010. The Safety Car will come with a Rosso Competizione exterior paint job which will be the only one available considering the Rosso Competizione was removed from the catalog due to issues with the supplier. The red color will be obtainable again next November when it becomes a part of the color lineup again.

The Giulietta Safety Car will be powered by a 1.75-liter TBi petrol engine that develops a total of 235 HP. The car will be distinguished by a special front spoiler and side sills which will be available to order from the Lineaccessori catalog, and, of course, the Safety car logo on the doors.

This model will also be used as a Safety Car in competitions like the Superstock 600 European Championship, the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, and the Mondiale Supersport.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta began its run as a safety car when it made a few laps around the Monza alongside the 8C Competizione, the halo car for Alfa Romeo.

2011 Alfa Romeo 159

For the 2011 model year, the Alfa Romeo 159 -both sedan and station wagon models- has been renewed in style and interior; it also gets optional packages that provide customers a more competitive bid.

The company offers great attention to detail and high quality interior materials making the 159 look even sportier and more original. The car gets a new combination of leather/fabric available in black or beige and elegant chrome treatment. For 2011, customers will be able to choose from four different packages: Comfort Pack, Sport Pack, Comfort Plus Pack and TI Plus Pack. These packages offer an abundance of equipment such as side sills, aluminum pedals, sports instruments with white lighting, and sport steering wheel and shift knob. Other features of these packages include cruise control, electrically folding door mirrors, front seats and fog lamps overhead. The packages are finished off with a system media player and speakerphone Blue & Me and radio controls on the steering wheel. All of this sits on a set of alloy wheels 17 "with a brushed titanium treatment.

The 2011 Alfa Romeo 159 will also provide the consumer with 5 different engine options: a 1.8 liter 140 hp and a 2.0 liter 200 hp turbocharged petrol and diesels to the tune of a JTDM with 120, 170, and 200 hp.

Both versions will go on sale in Europe next month. Pricing for the Alfa Romeo 159 will start at 24,360 Euros for the petrol model and 27,000 Euros for the diesel variant.

2010 Alfa Romeo 8C GTA

Is Alfa Romeo preparing a new 8C Competizione? Well, if recent viewings of prototypes caught testing have any say in it (which they always do) then we would have to say, “Yes!” It also helps that we have been hearing about this version for a few years now so production pretty much seems to be set in stone at this point. The new Competizione will be called the Alfa Romeo 8C GTA (Gran Turismo Allegerito) and is said to be a more exotic version of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. . It is also said to be modeled after the classic 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA. Pictures of the new Alfa Romeo 8C GTA have already been floating around the web, but here are some nice renderings of the new beast that will surely tickle some fancies.

2010 Castagna Coupe Targa based on Alfa Romeo 8C

After the Pininfarina, Bertone, and Zagato, Castagna is the fourth tuning house that has announced a special edition Alfa Romeo for the company’s 100th anniversary. In fact, Castagna will unveil two different models for this event with ore details on them being revealed at the Paris Auto Show.

The first Alfa Romeo model signed by Castagna was unveiled in 1910: a 24 HP Torpedo. The cooperation continued from 1910 to 1954, and then again in 1994 with the unveiling of a special one-off basis Alfa Romeo that marks the return of activity in the field of custom-built models.

The first model set to be unveiled at the Paris Auto Show is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C. It will be called the Targa Coupe and is a modern reinterpretation of the 1913 Minivan Ricotti developed on a special floor with rear-wheel drive.

2010 Alfa Romeo GT Quadrifoglio d’Oro

Alfa Romeo has had one heck of a year for 2010. They are right smack in the middle of celebrating their centennial anniversary and are taking advantage of that in a serious way. Part of their celebration was taking part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in a “shine in the spotlight” kind of way. Not only did they bring their new Alfa Romeo 8C to the festival, but they also brought over 50 historic vehicles to showcase during the event and were given the honor of creating a statue to use as the ‘Central Feature’, a statue that’s prominently displayed every year in front of the Goodwood house. Another portion of their celebratory movement was bringing out their restyled and upgraded 159 sedan and station wagon models out to the market. Great things are happening at Alfa Romeo and they don’t want it to stop.

Now Alfa Romeo has decided to bring out a special edition model strictly for the Japanese market. It’s called the Alfa Romeo GT Quadrifoglio d’Oro (Golden Clover) and will feature custom gold badging. The exterior paint finish is a vibrant red that is mirrored in the red painted brake calipers. The exterior also features a chrome trim at the lower part of the front fascia.

2010 Alfa Romeo MiTo Turismo Sport

Alfa Romeo UK has unveiled the special edition MiTo Turismo Sport that will go on sale this month. This special edition is priced at £12,895 and will be offered in three exterior colors –Solid Black (as standard), Biancospino White, and the new Alfa Metallic Red.

The new Mito Turismo Sport will be offered with a choice of two engines: a 1.4 16V 95bhp petrol version and a 1.3 JTDM-2 95bhp MultiJet turbodiesel. Thanks to these two engines, the special edition will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 11.6 seconds.

Next to the list of impressive standard equipment found in the MiTo Turismo model (including air conditioning and state-of-the-art Alfa D.N.A technology), the new Alfa MiTo Turismo Sport special edition also gets 16" alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, cruise control, Blue & Me technology, fog lights, and a leather steering wheel incorporating audio and phone controls.

2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni

We don’t usually see auto brands like Alfa Romeo get dressed in green tires, so when somebody decides to do it – props to Marangoni – we jump on the opportunity to know more about it.

Based on the Alfa Romeo 1750 Quadrifoglio Verde that has had its fair share of modifications, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni is a testament to an aggressive sports hatch being given randy dandy aerodynamic and aesthetic upgrades. Heck, these guys were nice enough to even include a Segway i2 a dashboard-integrated iPad and its own Internet connection.

Marangoni’s M-Power tires were used on the car and the green color wrapped around them came as a result of using compounds with high silica content and other innovative materials. Aside from being an aesthetic quirk, this colorful addition actually serves a meaningful purpose by minimizing rolling resistance and, consequently, saving up on fuel consumption.

2012 Alfa Romeo 169

After Alfa Romeo dropped the 166 in 2007, there were rumors suggesting that there would be a successor for the model. And after a few years, those rumors seem to be back again. Apparently the company is preparing a new model, called the 169, which will be built on the the LX platform that currently underpins the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger.

The future 169 will not be a classic sedan as was the 166. Instead, Alfa Romeo will adopt a four-door coupe body. The exterior design will be a mix of the Mito, Giulietta, and the 8C.

The new 169 will make its world debut at a major show in 2011 - most likely Geneva - and sales will begin in early 2012.

2012 Alfa Romeo Giulia

Alfa Romeo is gearing up for the release of its latest baby, the Giulia. It’s a long time coming considering rumors on the car have been around for quite some time now. But in the classic case of ‘better late than never’, the new Giulia, which is expected to hit the production line at the tail end of 2012, is now further along in its development. This poses as great news for fans of the Italian marquee while on the flip side, the sports sedan’s forthcoming release should be a cause for concern from some of its German rivals, particularly BMW and Audi.

For a brand that has seen its recent struggles, Fiat is hoping that Alfa Romeo’s new Giulia sports sedan will be the car that will help the Italian brand recover its place in the auto industry. It’s a tall order for a sports sedan given the stiff competition it’s going to face in the market once it’s released, but nevertheless, Alfa Romeo is confident that they have found the car that will lead them back to prominence in the 2012 Giulia.

2011 Alfa Giulietta 2.0 JTDM-2

Shortly after its official launch, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta has become quite a successful model. And as customers always ask for more the company is offering a new engine in the line-up: a new 2.0 JTDM-2 equipped with the latest generation JTDM-2 MultiJet Common Rail system.

This technology, combined with an electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger delivers a total of 140 HP and a peak torque of 350 NM at just 1750 rpm (with the D.N.A. selector in Dynamic position) and 320 NM at 1500 rpm (in Normal) - giving it the highest torque in its class compared to similarly efficient and powerful engines.

Equipped with this engine, the new Giulietta will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 9 seconds and will be capable of a top speed of 127 mph. The model comes equipped with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and Start&Stop as standard, a close coupled diesel particulate filter and a built-in EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system that improves control of temperature and gas flow.

2011 Alfa Romeo 159 Super

Alfa Romeo may not be one of the most wide-reaching brands in the world, but that’s not to say that the Italian automaker isn’t one of the better brands out on the market today.

Despite not having the reach of brands like Toyota and Volkswagen, Alfa Romeo still boasts of a fairly impressive line-up of cars, one of which is the 159 model.

Recently, Alfa released a special “Super” edition of the 159, a model that comes loaded with loads of new aesthetic features on both the exterior and interior of the car. While the engine was left untouched – it has the standard 2.0 JDTM engine with 136 horsepower - there are still plenty of additions done on the car to make it worth a second, third, and fourth look.

The “Super” designation isn’t actually a newly conceived concept from Alfa Romeo. Back in the 70’s, the same tag was used for a sports version of the Giulietta.

A little over 30 years later, the Alfa Romeo "Super" designation is back and ready to roar into action.

2011 Alfa Romeo MiTo

As one of the biggest auto shows of the year, the Geneva Motor Show is one of those shows that is expected to attract a huge audience.

Understandably so, a lot of automakers are getting ready to put their best foot forward. For Italian automaker Alfa Romeo, the Geneva Motor Show is the perfect opportunity to introduce their new subcompact model, the 2011MY MiTo.

While it’s not exactly a completely different model, the 2011MY MiTo is nonetheless a refreshed version of the vehicle that promises to have a number of enhancements over its soon-to-be-predecessor, the current edition MiTo.

After its stop in Geneva, the new MiTo is expected to hit dealerships in Europe later this year where it promises to come with new options and technologies that will "enhance comfort and driving feel" for the new model.

Expect the Alfa Romeo MiTo to make its presence felt at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show with a couple of special ready to take center stage.

2011 Alfa Romeo 4C GTA Concept

With only a teaser image to go on days before the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, everyone was thrilled to see Alfa Romeo unveil the 4C GTA Concept. According to Alfa Romeo, the 4C GTA is "a compact supercar" which represents the true essence of a sports car and is in line with the brand’s values: performance, Italian style, and technical excellence aimed at maximum driving pleasure in total safety."

The 4C GTA concept is inspired by models like the 8C Competizione and 8C Spider models, but takes their design a step forward. While the two models were focusing on obtaining more power, the 4C GTA Concept’s focus is on weight reduction thanks to the extensive use of carbon.

The concept is powered by a "4 cylinder" 1750 Turbo Petrol engine that delivers an impressive 200 HP that sprints the car to an impressive 155 mph.
